Henri Trilles is one of the main authors of the "missionary ethnography" of the early twentieth century, a sui generis ethnography elaborated forcibly with the express purpose of demonstrating that all humanity had as its original religion a monotheism based on a very ancient real divine revelation; idea instigated by the priest Schmidt in the 12 volumes of his Der Ursprung der Gottesidee of 1912. This is to say that the part on the religion of the Pygmies of Trilles must be considered as a theological licentiousness without any ethnographic value.
